“Vasanas or mental patterns answer the question of how: they point to the manner how the karmic loop is manifested.
Karmic loops answer the question of why. As long as there is why there will be at least a few “hows” sprouting from it.
Without actually knowing it, we agree to the imprisonment. Even the process of reprogramming the mind is under the control of karmic loops. We reject one vasana and instead, we chose another.
Of course, we are able to answer the “why” question with our perspective, intention, desire or any cause we may think of. But WHY we think like that; WHY we desire exactly this and not something else, stays outside of our reach. As before, we are the obedient puppets, walking happily the paths laid out by karma. Seemingly we follow our desires, but actually, we are confined in the most tragic form of slavery – the one in which we think we are free, but actually we live our life in accordance with the biding of our invisible masters.”
Do you know the difference between “having a choice” and “being free”? Having a choice is the pathetic excuse for the illusion of freedom – the sand disappearing between your fingers, the building without a foundation and the mist in the eyes of the trapped.
